This is how Pacific Explorer will look when she joins P&O Australia's fleet mid-year
P&O Cruises Australia’s latest ship, Pacific Explorer, will be emblazoned with the Southern Cross, a national symbol in both Australia and New Zealand.

It is incorporated in the national flags, the Australian national anthem and in the Australian cricket team’s victory song, ‘Under the Southern Cross I Stand.’

The five-star celestial constellation, a Southern Hemisphere feature of the Milky Way and brilliant night sky, has guided generations of seafarers.

‘We couldn’t think of a more powerful symbol to launch Pacific Explorer’s new era of local cruising than the Southern Cross,' president Sture Myrmell said.

A major makeover at the Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore will convert Princess Cruises’ resident 77,000gt Dawn Princess into Pacific Explorer this year. She will make her first South Pacific cruise from Sydney wearing her new name and Southern Cross livery on June 22.

Pacific Explorer is a replacement for P&O Cruises Australia’s resident Pacific Pearl which has been sold to Cruise & Maritime Voyages, departing the fleet in April.
