Princess Cruises will have its biggest 2020/21 season in Australia with the deployment of its second Royal-class ship, the 3,560-passenger Regal Princess.

Joins Majestic Princess

Regal Princess will join Majestic Princess, which is currently making her maiden 2018/19 season in Australia and was the venue for the World’s Leading Cruise Lines 2018 Partnership Summit during its recent four-night voyage from Auckland to Sydney.

Addressing the company’s top Australian and New Zealand travel partner delegates, Stuart Allison, svp Asia Pacific, said it will be the first time Princess has deployed two Royal-class ships from the same homeport, outside the Caribbean.

40% more capacity

The move, Allison said, follows the growing demand for cruise holidays and will give Princess 40% more capacity than it has in the current 2018/19 season.

He said Regal Princess will sail from Rome to Sydney where she will be deployed from December 2020 until April 2021. Her inaugural Australian itineraries will be released in March next year.

He confirmed Australia is the company’s largest source market outside North America.

Expanded 'Local Connections'

Princess chief commercial officer Deanna Austin said the company had expanded its ‘Local Connections’ programme in Australia to coincide with the 2018/19 wave season.

Austin said there are 20 new shore excursions in six ports—Broome, Perth, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Brisbane.

‘Building on the success of New Zealand’s Local Connections programme launched as part of our award-winning "Across the Ditch" offering, the Australian arm of the programme will drive tourism to regions across the country,’ she said.

‘Princess will continue to invest in local experts who will deliver meaningful and bespoke, boutique experiences to our guests, as it is these local artisans and cultural leaders who bring a destination to life.’
