Ponant's Le Boréal made a grand entrance to New York Harbor Thursday morning, its maiden call accompanied by a fireboat spraying plumes of water.

The ship docked at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal where Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée, co-founder and ceo of Ponant, and Navin Sawhney, ceo for the Americas, hosted a small group of VIPs and media.

Under its new ownership by Artemis, the French holding company of the billionaire Pinault family, Ponant has contracted a quartet of 10,000gt newbuilds.
