U by Uniworld is branching out with an expanded itinerary in northern France on The B ship, along with new excursions and on-board amenities—including riverboat rooftop camping—across the fleet in 2019.

New market segment

'We’ve introduced river cruising to a completely new segment of travelers this year with the launch of U by Uniworld,' Uniworld president and CEO Ellen Bettridge said. 'Our first year was all about disrupting the industry—quite literally testing the waters as we debuted a never before seen product, receiving awards and rave reviews from guests, travel partners and media alike.

'Entering into our second season,' Bettridge continued, 'we’re following the ever-evolving consumer trends and listening to feedback from guests as we seek new ways to push the limit on the river cruise experience from the launch of a brand new itinerary to enhanced excursions to new on-board activities. We look forward to continuing the buzz and success of our inaugural season as we continue momentum into 2019.'

Friday and Saturday night in Paris

Beginning April 21, 2019, The B’s new eight-day 'Northern France at a Glance' will sail along the Seine River with stops in Paris, Vernon, Les Andelys, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Rouen and Caudebec-en-Caux. The cruise turns around on Sundays, allowing for travelers to spend a Friday and Saturday night in Paris.

In time for the 75th anniversary of D-Day, U will take passengers to Normandy’s beaches to celebrate the historic event with a stop at the American Cemetery for a special memorial ceremony. Other new immersive excursions offered on this sailing include following U’s chef to Rouen’s market to choose ingredients for dinner, climbing to the top of the Étretat’s legendary cliffs for breathtaking views of France and tea time at Château du Champ de Bataille.

Rates start at $1,999 per person including select offshore excursions, rooftop fitness classes and more.

'One of the World's Greatest Places'

The A, which was recently named 'One of the World’s Greatest Places' by Time magazine, will offer new ‘U Time’ excursion options along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers in 2019. For example, passengers can paddle board, canoe or swim in the Ilz River near the Danube bridge, hike through Regensburg or to Germania Monument, visit World War II sites in Linz, take a walking tour through Budapest to discover hidden gems and taste Hungarian street food from a local market.

Rates for The A’s sailings start at $1,799 per person.

In addition to U's inclusions, such as mixology classes, silent discos, paint & wine, drum circles and sunrise rooftop yoga, new shipboard activities include rooftop barbecues, karaoke nights, giant board games and themed parties.

Camp out with a nightcap and breakfast picnic basket

For an additional cost, travelers can camp on the rooftop, complete with a nightcap cocktail and breakfast picnic basket. Other extra-charge activities are a U wine talk and special-occasion romance packages.

U by Uniworld is offering travelers a 10% early booking discount for travelers who pay in full by Sept. 30 this year.
