The 7 night, 8 day itineraries sail between Suez and Aqaba and in reverse visiting destinations including Cairo, the Necropolis at Giza, Hurghada, Aqaba, Petra, Luxor, Wadi Rum, Port Said and Suez.
A two-day land trip and deluxe hotel overnight, on a full board basis, is included from Hurghada to Luxor, on the site of the ancient city of Thebes, the Pharaohs’ capital. Optional excursions are available to the temples at Luxor and Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens on the West Bank of the Nile.
The stop at Aqaba affords access to Petra, or Wadi Rum - an area of natural beauty where most of the movie Lawrence of Arabia was filmed.
Variety Cruises UK director Chris Lorenzo believes the week long itineraries make an ideal winter short-break: ‘Most cruise fans look to go long-haul in winter, but if you want to combine good weather with some serious cultural excitement Cairo or Amman are only around five hours away. There are just so many fabulous sights and sites that are within such close proximity, and cruising is by far the easiest way to see them all.’
