Vietnam’s Hoi An goes greener

Vietnam’s Hoi An goes greener
The UNESCO listed city of Hoi An will promote the use of bicycles this year as part of a plan to make it the first eco-city in Vietnam, reports DMC Destination Asia, in its latest newsletter.

Hoi An is a 45 minute drive from Da Nang port which attracts a broad range of cruise  ships. Visiting lines in 2014/15 include Fred Olsen, Celebrity, Costa, Crystal, Swan Hellenic, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, Silversea and Holland America Line. Many offer shorex excursions to the charming heritage town of Hoi An.

Hoi An city authorities have launched a series of programs on environmental protection linked to tourism attractions. With this in mind, the aim is to encourage visitors to use more environmentally friendly vehicles, such as conventional and battery-powered bicycles and to walk in a bid to keep the environment cleaner.
