Weather delays Pacific Pearl’s return to Sydney
P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Pearl encountered strong winds and a heavy swell on her return to Sydney today from a 12-night New Year’s cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

A company spokeswoman told Seatrade Cruise News that the captain reduced speed for the comfort and safety of passengers.

The 63,786gt ship which was due to berth at 7am. arrived shortly before she was due to sail at 4pm.

The spokeswoman said Pacific Pearl is now due to sail at 10pm. on a sold out three-night ‘food and wine’ Sea Break to nowhere, returning early Monday morning.

She said outgoing passengers will be compensated for their disappointment with the delay. Passengers over the age of 13 will each receive a A$100 shipboard credit and there is a A$50 credit for 12-year-olds and under.
