Early Monday the ship arrived at the North Sea port of Eemshaven, Netherlands, to undergo initial testing and will continue to Bremerhaven, Germany, for additional sea trials.
The 18-deck, 151,300gt ship has 3,360 lower berths and is the sister of 2016's Genting Dream.
World Dream's delivery is scheduled for Oct. 26. Then the ship will begin its transit to Asia via Gibraltar, through the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal, across the Indian Ocean with calls at Sri Lanka and Singapore, to arrive at Hong Kong on Nov. 17 and Guangzhou, China, Nov. 19.
'World Dream’s dual homeports in Guangzhou/Nansha and Hong Kong underline our ongoing commitment to continue to support the Pearl River Delta as a major cruise hub in the Asia Pacific [region],' said Kent Zhu, president of Genting Cruise Lines, the parent of Dream Cruises.
'We are extremely excited to welcome World Dream in Guangzhou and Hong Kong this November and to introduce our guests to our much anticipated second ship,' added Thatcher Brown, president of Dream Cruises. 'We will continue to build on the strengths of her sister ship Genting Dream to deliver exceptional service and experiences that are Asian at heart and international in spirit,' he said.
'We are grateful for the support of our travel partners and loyal guests who are already booked for the inaugural season.'
