AIDAmira Palma to Cape Town cruise is canceled

Bad weather impacted the completion of AIDAmira's upgrade in Genoa
AIDA Cruises canceled another sailing aboard its newly introduced AIDAmira.

Palma to Cape Town cruise canceled

The ship had been held over in Palma de Mallorca to complete upgrade work following its splashy naming ceremony Saturday night and was due to sail today for Cape Town. That voyage was canceled since a considerable amount of work remains to get the vessel ready.

AIDAmira is the former Costa neoRiviera, built in 1999. Since transferring to the AIDA fleet in late October, it underwent an upgrade in Genoa. AIDA Cruises confirmed adverse weather conditions in the western Mediterranean during much of November as a main reason for the delayed completion of the work

Passengers are getting a full refund and alternatives to sail on other ships.

First cruise planned for Dec. 23

AIDAmira’s first cruise is now scheduled to depart round-trip from Cape Town on Dec. 23, bound for Port Elizabeth, Durba and East London.
