Cruise continues after fire on P&O's Pacific Adventure is quickly put out

Fire broke out in a balcony cabin aboard P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Adventure around 3:30 Sunday morning during a three-day round cruise which departed Sydney on Saturday.

Passengers were evacuated from their cabins and told to bring life jackets to the muster station.

Quickly extinguished

The fire was quickly extinguished and the emergency was called off around 5 a.m.

No injuries reported

‘This fire activated our emergency response procedures including a full muster of guests and crew and we thank everyone on board for their cooperation,’ a company statement said.

‘There are no reports of injury.

‘The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are yet to be fully determined and remain under investigation.’

Cruise continues

The 2,636-passenger ship, which is off the New South Wales coast, is proceeding with the cruise and is due to return Tuesday.
