Cruise the Saint Lawrence reelects top officers to provide continuity in COVID-19 era

Tony Boemi of the Port of Montréal will continue to lead the association's board for another two-year term
Cruise the Saint Lawrence reinstated Tony Boemi as president, Nancy Houley as vice president and Priscilla Nemey as secretary-treasurer for another two-year term.

Boemi of the Port of Montréal, Houley from the Port of Québec and Nemey of Promotion Saguenay were all reelected at the association's annual general meeting.

Eight other directors

The eight other directors rounding out the board are Yolaine Masse of Tourism Montréal; Daniel Rioux of Innovation Economic Development Trois-Rivières, Éric Bilodeau of Québec Tourism Bureau, Reina Savoie-Jourdain of Baie-Comeau Cruises, Mirka Boudreau of Destination Sept-Îles Nakauinanu, Odessa Thériault of Port of Havre-Saint-Pierre, Stéphane Sainte-Croix of Escale Gaspésie and Denis Bourque of Escale Îles de la Madeleine.

In the current context of COVID-19, the board renewed the terms of the three officers to provide continuity as Cruise the Saint Lawrence navigates the cruise industry's most daunting challenge ever.

Sustainable development, safety and security

The board is focused on relaunching regional cruise operations in 2021. Destination priorities include sustainable development and the safety and security of locals and visitors alike. The association intends to be ready to welcome ships back to ports when government authorities allow cruises to resume.

The mission of Cruise the Saint Lawrence and its nine ports is to grow the cruise business in Québec and across Canada/New England through marketing and development services to its members. The association is supported by partners Tourism Québec, Québec Tourism Industry Alliance and Industry, Science and Economic Development Canada.
