According to news reports, Japanese officials said a Health Ministry employee who had surveyed passengers came down with the virus, too.

Diamond Princess continues to feature prominently in global media reports about coronavirus.

WHO numbers

As of Feb. 11, the World Health Organization situation report listed 43,103 confirmed cases globally. Of those, 42,708 were in China, and 395 outside. Deaths in China from the virus were 1,017, while one death has been reported outside China.

The Princess Cruises ship has been quarantined since arriving in Yokohama Feb. 3 after a man on the prior voyage was diagnosed at a Hong Kong hospital.

Some news outlets count him in the cases diagnosed, making their tallies 175.

As passengers and crew test positive, they are taken off the ship for care in hospitals ashore.

Diamond Princess arrived in Yokohama carrying 2,666 passengers and 1,045 crew from a range of nationalities. About half the passengers are from Japan.
