Diamond Princess cruise from Yokohama is canceled

There are 2,666 passengers on board Diamond Princess. About half are from Japan
The Feb. 4 cruise of Diamond Princess has been canceled. The ship has been held in Yokohama, Japan, after arriving Monday, one day early, for its scheduled turnaround.

Coronavirus screening

Japan health authorities have been screening passengers and crew for coronavirus after a man on the prior saiing was later diagnosed at a hospital in Hong Kong.

Passengers will receive a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit for the canceled eight-day round-trip sailing.

Comprehensive review

In a statement, Princess Cruises thanked the Japan Ministry of Health for its thorough review of the health status of guests and crew aboard Diamond Princess. The line said it canceled the next voyage because of the time needed for the authorities to complete their comprehensive review. 

The 2,666 passengers on board represent a range of nationalities. About half are from Japan.
