Carnival Cruise Line posted this photo of passengers going ashore from Carnival Freedom
Carnival Freedom's emergency response team quickly extinguished a fire inside the ship’s funnel Thursday morning during a call at Grand Turk.

Carnival Cruise Line said everyone onboard is safe, and passengers were cleared by local authorities to go ashore.

'We continue to assess the situation,' Carnival added.

Five-day cruise from Canaveral

Carnival Freedom departed Port Canaveral Monday on a five-day cruise and arrived at Grand Turk following Wednesday's visit to Amber Cove.
