Murray River Paddlesteamers is offering passengers on all overnight winter (Southern Hemisphere) 2023 cruises aboard PS Emmylou free return train travel from Melbourne to Echuca on the Victorian/New South Wales border.

The journey takes around 3.5 hours each way and the company is also providing transfers between the railway station and the riverboat.

Reduced solo surcharge

Savings of 10% on cruises during June, July and August have also been announced, as well as a reduced solo surcharge from 60 to 45%.

Bookings must be made by April 30 and there is a 10% commission for travel agents.

Twin-share fares range from A$1,521 for a three-night sailing and $A3,582 for the new seven-night itinerary.

They include daily shore excursions, beer and wine with dinner and soft drinks, bottled water and tea and coffee throughout the voyage.

PS Emmylou, billed as the world’s only wood-fired paddlesteamer that carries just 16 passengers, is powered by a restored 1906 steam engine.

Timber deck

She has been totally refurbished and each cabin has a private ensuite, air-conditioning and WIFI and opens directly onto the timber deck.

Meals are served on deck or in the dining saloon and there are riverside picnics and a memorable campfire dinner on the riverbank under the stars.

PS Emmylou stops to visit wineries, historic farm properties, indigenous sites, wildlife along tributaries and country towns.
