Norwegian Cruise Line scored its single best new-ship booking day and initial booking week sales for Norwegian Prima.

Bookings opened May 12 for the first Prima-class ship, scheduled to enter service in August 2022.

'With this world-class ship, we are providing our guests with more wide-open spaces, elevated service, thoughtful design and a variety of experiences that go beyond expectation,' NCL President and CEO Harry Sommer said. 'Our record-breaking sales are a clear indicator of our guests' excitement to return to the ocean and of the significant demand for a premium vacation experience.'

Doubled prior record

Sommer said Norwegian Bliss, which debuted in 2018 and sparked NCL's biggest booking day ever during its unveiling, has been outpaced by Norwegian Prima, which doubled the prior record.

20% of bookings are for The Haven

'In addition, nearly 20% of bookings are for our Haven suites, indicating the desire for top-of-the-line experiences,' Sommer added.

On Norwegian Prima, The Haven complex of 107 suites is enlarged and relocated aft, spanning eight decks of suites and public areas, all styled by Piero Lissoni, one of Italy's preeminent designers.

The Haven will be more open to the sea than in the past, with every public space offering views. The Haven Courtyard was transformed into a sun deck with an infinity pool overlooking the ship's wake and a new outdoor spa with a glass-walled sauna and cold room.
