China Merchants Heavy Industries (Jiangsu), the cruise shipbuilding arm of China Merchants Group, is co-operating with China’s communication industry players Ericsson and China Mobile (Nantong) Branch to apply a 5G network in the shipbuilding base of China Merchants at Haimen, Jiangsu.

The three parties jointly launched the 5G NSA Base Station for 5G technology and network application at the shipyard.

This 5G project is able to provide and transmit high-resolution and quick sync video, which could greatly improve the shipbuilding industry's access to data, at much higher speeds.

Currently, the 5G network covers the Haimen production area, and the three parties are planning to further develop the technology for the shipbuilding process monitoring by 5G drone.
