Fireworks onboard AIDAVita lit up the Miami skyline on Monday evening to mark the start of the ship's Selection programme
After the successful start of AIDAcara’s Selection cruise programme at the beginning of February in Hamburg, AIDAvita’s maiden 'Selection' cruises got off to a start in Miami.

The AIDA ship stayed overnight Sunday in PortMiami and during the sail away party on Monday evening guests enjoyed a fireworks display on board, against the Miami skyline.

After the colourful send-off, AIDAvita left the berth setting a course for Hamburg.

The 19-day transatlantic cruise will stop in Hamilton, Bermuda, Ponta Delgada in the Azores, La Coruña in Spain, and Falmouth and Dover in the UK, before ending in Hamburg on March 24, 2017.

The ship will then spend 11 days undergoing an overhaul in Bremerhaven where numerous public areas are being modified for the Selection program.

After this makeover, AIDAvita will be undertaking 26 cruises during the summer season including shorter crusies to Sweden and Norway, and 14-day sailings to North Norway, the UK & Ireland and the Nordic islands and Iceland.

From the end of October 2017, AIDAvita will be sailing from Hamburg for the Azores and the Canary Islands.

AIDA Selection cruises features itineraries to new regions, or exclusive ports with the company's first generation ships: AIDAaura, AIDAcara and AIDAvita.

The individually designed entertainment program references the typical culture of the destinations being visited. A new feature aboard AIDAvita is the Selection Restaurant where every evening a set meal from a well-known restaurant such as Casa Nova, French Kiss or the Buffalo Steak House will be served, alongside a set meal featuring regional specialties.
