American Cruise Lines calls fourth modern riverboat ‘Melody’

American Melody has a patent-pending opening bow with retractable gangway

American Cruise Lines announced American Melody as the name of the fourth vessel in its modern riverboat series.

2020 delivery

Under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, American Melody is expected to begin sailing in late 2020. It follows sister vessels American Song (2018), this year’s recently introduced American Harmony and another 2020 vessel, American Jazz.

Like those, American Melody has a patent-pending opening bow and retractable gangway, a multi-story glass atrium and roomy accommodations, all with private balconies.

A fifth vessel is planned for American’s modern riverboat series.
