The ship is going to be taken out of service on July 9, at which time it will transit to Freeport, Bahamas.
Grand Bahama Shipyard dock not available
The novel procedure is due to the current lack of facilities at Grand Bahama Shipyard, following the drydock accident there in April.
Earlier, Carnival had said Vista would be going to a drydock for the replacement of all four bearings on the two Azipods.
An issue with the bearings in one of the Azipods is affecting the cruising speed, so itineraries have been revised, and the July 6, 13 and 20 departures have been canceled.
July 27 return to service
Carnival said more information on the procedure being negotiated will be forthcoming, adding that the plan is still to complete the work and return Carnival Vista to Galveston for its scheduled July 27 cruise.
