Carnival Australia ships in marine rescue off NSW coast
Carnival Australia locally-based ships, Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Spirit and P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Pearl, were asked to sail to the aid of a disabled yacht with six people on board today which was 280 nautical miles north-east of Sydney.

Pacific Pearl was released from the marine rescue operation by Australian marine search and rescue authorities, but Carnival Spirit was asked to stand by the disabled craft pending the arrival of further assistance.

It is understood that two female crew members from the stricken yacht received medical assistance on board Carnival Spirit which has provided emergency supplies.

It is the second time in a week that a Carnival Australia ship has been involved in a marine rescue at sea.

As reported here, Princess Cruises’ resident Sun Princess rescued five people who had been adrift for 48 hours in a stricken vessel to the west of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu.
