Successor to Lars Ljoen
He succeeds Lars Ljoen, who is going to Carnival Cruise Line in Miami as EVP operations.
Klein is currently managing director and group COO of CPO Holding (Offen Group) in Hamburg.

Responsibility for all marine operations
Klein will be responsible for overseeing all Costa Group marine operations, including nautical and technical operations, environmental compliance and safety, port operations and development, and newbuilds.
Since April 2015, Klein has led CPO Holding (Offen Group), one of the world's leading managers of container shipping, bulk carriers and product tankers. From 2012 to 2015, he was managing director and CEO of ER Schiffahrt/Blue Star Holding, a ship manager with about 80 vessels in service, and before that he served for seven years as executive board member of Germanischer Lloyd in Hamburg.
Earlier, Klein was managing director and, subsequently, chairman of MWB shipyard in Bremerhaven. He also served as head of design at Lürssen, a shipyard based in Bremen.
Klein holds degrees in naval architecture and mechanical engineering and a PhD in engineering.
