SkyRide, a suspended cycling experience aboard Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, is currently closed for extended maintenance.

Safety enhancements

'We conduct regular maintenance inspections of SkyRide on both ships. As we compared findings of the most recent inspections, we decided it best to take the rides out of service and consult with our engineering experts on some enhancements to maintain the high level of safety we are committed to providing,' Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement. 'We are making every effort to complete any recommended work as quickly as possible.'

The company did not address questions about how long SkyRide has been unavailable or the estimated date of return to service.

A SkyRide is among the attractions planned for Carnival Panorama, due to begin sailing from Long Beach, California, in December.
