According to Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, the reception area is designer Kelly Hoppen's 'masterpiece'
Celebrity Edge was designed to provide a closer connection to the ocean, and The Spa—inspired by the soothing, rejuvenating elements of nature—is a prime example.

Crafting a new class of ship—the first in 10 years—gave Celebrity Cruises the opportunity to 'completely transform the spa experience at sea,' according to president and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

'It has a ton of firsts,' she said. As well, Lutoff-Perlo thinks The Spa represents the world-renowned designer Kelly Hoppen 'at her best.'

124 treatments, inspired design

Unveiled today at a London event, The Spa features 124 treatments, 31 therapists, a cutting-edge collection of specialty treatment tables, the first Peloton bikes at sea and Hoppen's inspired design.

'The spa has always been a sacred space to me; as a young girl, I often visited spas and always dreamt of designing my very own,' Hoppen said, adding that The Spa on Celebrity Edge 'proved to be the perfect outlet for living out my dreams.

'A spa is a place where one goes to relax and be pampered,' she continued, 'so for me The Spa had to be neutral in palette and complementary lighting, evoking a sense of calmness.

'Every aspect of the design is meaningful to me,' Hoppen said, pointing to the dramatic crystal installation, inspired by the qualities that crystals have had on her life, and the dramatic, yet zen, sculpture that serves as a reception desk.

Lutoff-Perlo told Seatrade Cruise News this reception area is Hoppen's 'masterpiece,' with a 'sweeping, curved staircase that connects decks 14 and 15 in beautiful, organic symmetry.'

Eight Thermal Suite experiences, including a Crystalarium

The Spa on Celebrity Edge introduces an array of offerings inspired by the SEA (sea, earth and air), and Celebrity's largest and most experiential SEA Thermal Suite, with eight distinctive therapeutic experiences that expand on the Persian Garden of the current fleet.

AquaClass guests get complimentary access to the SEA Thermal Suite with its Hammam, Salt Room, Steam Room, Rainfall Water Therapy Room, Float Room, heated tile loungers, Infrared Sauna and Crystalarium.

Lutoff-Perlo said along with dining privileges in the exclusive Blu restaurant, this makes AquaClass on Celebrity Edge a particularly outstanding value.

Developed in partnership with Steiner

The Spa was developed in partnership with One Spa World (Steiner Leisure), selected after Celebrity issued a brief to spa providers, including its partner Canyon Ranch, inviting specifics on the type of experience the brand was seeking. Lutoff-Perlo said Steiner delivered in spades. (Steiner has not been on the Celebrity fleet since 2004.)

The Spa's 124 treatments include such signature offerings as the Ocean Spa Wave Massage, Hot Mineral Body Boost, Poultice-Powered Muscle Release, Zero Gravity Wellness Massage, Restorative Salt Stone Massage and Thousand Flower Detox Wrap. The Spa also will offer the first line of Elemis Biotec facials on a Celebrity ship.

Unrivaled specialty table selection

And a specialty treatment table collection that’s unrivaled at sea includes a Spa Wave MLW Amphibia Table of water-filled cushions that shape to the spa-goer's body plus customizable color therapy lighting.

'You get to choose the color for your mood,' Lutoff-Perlo said.

A WellMassage4D Table uses technology to deliver a deeper and more relaxing massage, while an MLX Quartz Table employs warm crystals that mold around the body to release muscle tension and promote a deeper state of relaxation.

Ideal Image Ocean, The Advanced MedSpa offers aesthetic services such as Dysport wrinkle treatments and Restylane dermal filler treatments.

In addition, Celebrity will partner with Kérastase, the luxury haircare brand, to introduce the first Kérastase Institute at sea. Plus, the Barber Shop offers haircuts and traditional hot shaves.

Firsts in the Fitness Center

The Fitness Center, meanwhile, will offer more Celebrity firsts, like hot yoga, Technogym Group Cycle, Fitness on Demand, cardio boxing, the first Bungee Fit at sea and the first Peloton bikes at sea (these high-tech wonders have huge high-definition screens and a cult following).

'We’ve created a concept that not only evolves spa and wellness, but sets the new standard,' said Glenn Fusfield, president and CEO, One Spa World.
