Celestyal Cruises said its Piraeus office and staff are safe following what CNN called a 'strong but short' earthquake near Athens Friday afternoon.

The epicenter of the 5.3-magnitude quake was 14 miles northwest of Athens. The port of Piraeus is located southwest of the capital.

There were no immediate reports of serious injuries or damage but two derelict buildings in Athens were said to have collapsed.

Celestyal itineraries not impacted

Celestyal said all maritime operations were running smoothly and on schedule; none of its ships were in port.

The cruise line's office will be closed for the remainder of Friday in accordance with the safety guidelines of the Greek authorities.

Any urgent inquiries were being directed to Celestyal's US office at +1-877-337-4665.
