Costa Venezia heads east, inspiring China with authentic taste of Venice

YSA Design enlisted to bring authentic Venetian style to Costa's newest ship
YSA Design enlisted to bring authentic Venetian style to Costa's newest ship
Costa Venezia, currently sailing from Dubai to Singapore en-route for homeporting in Shanghai, is set to impress Chinese passengers with a taste of authentic Venetian style.

The Costa ship is designed to be in scale with the intimate waterways of Venice, with careful attention to detail paid to ensure signage, lighting and the iconic lion of Venice sculptures all reflect a true experience of the city, notes YSA Design.

YSA Design was enlisted to bring the vessel to life through a programme of materials selection to ensure an exceptional standard of finish, working alongside Italian craftsmen.

Costa Venezia is the first ship Costa Cruises has built for the Chinese market. At 323mtr in length, the 5,200-passenger capacity ship is also the largest of the brand’s vessels to operate in the Chinese market.

Gondola inspired by San Trovaso artisans

YSA Design has added a two deck, sliding glass roof on the Lido deck. The addition of a water fountain and pool are reminiscent of a Venetian hotel courtyard and the main focal point of the Canal Grande Aft restaurant on Decks 3 and 4 is the Venetian colonnades. Original plaster facades were used for the Venetian palacios and Italian soft stone for doorways. The Canal Grande Aft also features a real gondola made by Squero di San Trovaso artisans.

The Delle Stelle aft bar offers a flavour of the Biennale Film Festival, where the red carpeted staircase and iconic cinema waxworks lead the way up to the upscale art deco lounge.
