Quay, a restaurant with panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House on the upper level of the Overseas Passenger Terminal, was the setting for a media lunch to start the countdown for the arrival of Silversea’s flagship Silver Muse.

Newly appointed md Australia and New Zealand Adam Armstrong told guests that the 596-passenger luxury vessel which entered service last year will make her inaugural sailing from Bali to Australia on December 21, arriving in Darwin on December 26.

She will continue along Australia’s east coast with maiden calls at Cairns, Townsville, the Whitsunday Islands and Brisbane before arriving in Sydney to a tumultuous welcome three months from tomorrow — Saturday, October 6 — on January 6, 2019.

Maiden voyage to New Zealand

She then makes her maiden voyage to New Zealand, cruising Milford and Doubtful Sounds and calling at Dunedin, Akaroa, Picton, Napier and Gisborne before arriving in Auckland on January 19.

She will operate a series of trans-Tasman voyages and will rendezvous with Silver Whisper in Sydney on February 2.

On February 22 Silver Muse departs Sydney on a 74-day ‘Grand Asia Pacific Voyage’ to Tokyo.

Armstrong said Silver Muse’s maiden voyages in Australia and New Zealand are practically fully booked and that she will return again for the local 2019/20 wave season for a longer extended programme.

Australian literature showcase

Through a partnership between Silversea and London-based bookshop, Heywood Hill, Silver Muse will showcase a special selection of Australian literature in its Arts Cafe during its inaugural season Down Under.
