Crystal AirCruises received its customized Boeing 777-200LR Crystal Skye during an official handover ceremony at Boeing Field in Seattle on Tuesday. The aircraft was delivered to Crystal ceo and president Edie Rodriguez from Greenpoint Technologies.

In a ceremony with Champagne, Rodriguez, flanked by uniformed Crystal AirCruises crew, snipped a ribbon by the stairs of the aircraft.

The largest privately owned tour jet in the world is going to be deployed on charter service following a christening in Las Vegas on Aug. 12. Originally planned to offer set world tours of 14 to 28 days, the Crystal AirCruises concept changed a few months ago into a pure charter model.

Crystal Skye is designed to carry just 88 travelers with what Crystal said is the highest crew-to-passenger ratio of any twin-aisle aircraft and a nonstop range of 19.5 hours.

The seats convert to 180-degree lie-flat beds. A lounge offers a stand-up bar as well as tables, and meals will be prepared by an executive chef in two galleys and paired with premium wines.

Greenpoint Technologies worked with Crystal’s team to plan features like the 24-seat lounge, stone veneers, colored LED lighting and other premium details. The interior installation of Crystal Skye began in August 2016 at Greenpoint’s Moses Lake facility in Washington.

Crystal Skye is operated for Crystal AirCruises by Comlux Aruba NV.
