Second year in a row Seattle is expected to be the West Coast's busiest cruise port
The Port of Seattle is embarking on another record cruise season with the arrival of the first ship, Norwegian Sun. The just-delivered Norwegian Bliss is due May 30, becoming the largest cruise ship on the West Coast.

This is the second year in a row Seattle is expected to be the West Coast's busiest cruise port, with 1,100,468 revenue passengers, up from last year's 1,071,594. Larger ships are driving the growth.

The cruise business provides more than half a billion dollars in economic value to the region, according to Port of Seattle commission president Courtney Gregoire.

'These dollars reach businesses of all sizes, and we look forward to having more visitors stay and enjoy the beautiful state of Washington,' she said.

Free Port Valet service

Commissioners also approved the Port Valet program last week, a program where Seattle cruisers can get their airline boarding pass and check their bags before leaving the ship, so they can explore Seattle before flying home.

'Port Valet is a wonderful way for visitors to leave their baggage and explore the great things Seattle has to offer,' Visit Seattle CEO Tom Norwalk said. He suggested passengers visit Pike Place Market, see the Space Needle or even taste some wine in Woodinville before catching their flight home.
