Viking Sky is the third of six newbuilds for Viking Ocean Cruises
Viking Sky, the third of six cruise ships ordered by Viking Ocean Cruises from Fincantieri, was delivered Thursday morning at the shipyard in Ancona. At 47,800gt, the vessel has 465 cabins with accommodation for 930 passengers, with a total capacity of over 1,400 people, including crew.

Design teams at London-based SMC Design and Los Angeles-based Rottet Studios have provided the Scandinavian inspiration interiors.

In addition to the all-veranda staterooms, the ship also has spacious suites with sweeping views, two pools, of which one Infinity Pool off the stern, and a spa designed according to the wellness philosophy of the Scandinavian tradition, with a sauna and a snow grotto.

The first of the series, Viking Star, was built at Fincentieri's Marghera yard and delivered in spring 2015.

The second ship, Viking Sea was handed over by the Ancona yard at the beginning of 2016, while Viking Sun, the fourth in series launched in the same yard a month ago, will enter into service in autumn 2017.

The last two ships will be delivered respectively in 2018 and 2019.

Fincantieri has built 76 cruise ships from 1990 to today, while other 27 are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards.

According tp Seatrade's orderbook, the number of firm orders for ocean-going cruise ships is 68, valued at $46.7bn. Click here to download latest orderbook.
