Royal Caribbean International has four large ships engaged or standing by for Hurricane Irma rescue missions in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, president and CEO Michael Bayley told Seatrade Cruise News from aboard one of those vessels.

Majesty of the Seas is en route to St. Thomas, due to arrive Tuesday with relief supplies for the island and nearby St. John and to pick up people who've been stranded there.

Adventure of the Seas is scheduled to leave San Juan Saturday night and will arrive at badly hit St. Maarten on Sunday to provide provisions and collect stranded travelers.

Empress of the Seas is standing by in the Gulf of Mexico, positioned to help at the Florida Keys, Tampa and Havana as needed.

Enchantment of the Seas, with 2,700 Royal Caribbean employees on board for safe refuge from the storm, will stop at Key West as soon as possible after the storm and drop off supplies before returning to PortMiami.

'A big percentage of our fleet is dedicated to hurricane relief,' Bayley said by phone from Enchantment of the Seas, where employees who needed a safe place to evacuate are being carried for free.

'I'm on board Enchantment with our management team,' Bayley said. 'It's a big like Noah's Ark with dogs and cats. It's incredible. We're having a great experience.'
