Further delay for AIDAnova

AIDAnova's Dec. 2 voyage from Hamburg was canceled. The first cruise is now set for Dec. 19 from Tenerife
Meyer Werft said the hand-over of AIDAnova—the first cruise ship to be powered by LNG—has been further delayed. The yard is 'working hard' to wrap up the finishing touches and testing by Nov. 30.

First cruise now Dec. 19 instead of Dec. 2

The first cruise will now embark Dec. 19 from Tenerife.

'It just takes some time to prepare the ship for the first guests,' Meyer said on Friday.

It was the second delivery delay for the innovative, 184,000gt AIDA Cruises vessel. Earlier, preview cruises between Nov. 15 and Dec. 2 were canceled, and AIDAnova had been expected to sail its maiden voyage Dec. 2 from Hamburg to the Canary Islands.

Sea trials

Meyer Werft said sea trials would start tonight from Eemshaven.
