More revenue cruises canceled
Grand Celebration had been scheduled to resume revenue service Sept. 13. Now that departure, and those on Sept. 15, 17 and 19 have been canceled
‘We remain open for new bookings and will protect travel agent commissions,’ a company spokesman said. ‘We are committed to returning to Grand Bahama Island soon, working with our partners on the island to ensure a wonderful, memorable experience for our guests.’
Tourism is the most important industry in the Bahamas, a lifeline for residents across the islands, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line CEO Oneil Khosa noted.
Hopes to resume traditional sailing schedule
‘Grand Bahama is our home away from home,’ he said. ‘We are committed to providing aid to our brothers and sisters there and we look forward to returning to our traditional sailing schedule as soon as possible, as we know that will make the most positive impact on the island.’
Last week Grand Celebration became the first cruise ship to arrive at Freeport after Hurricane Dorian, taking 225,000 pounds of critical supplies and first responders and volunteers. The vessel returned to the Port of Palm Beach with 1,100 Bahamian residents who had the proper documentation to enter the US.
The Port of Palm Beach has sought funding from the state of Florida to enable Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line to continue the humanitarian missions.
