Miami-based Cruise Management International has assumed the technical and crew management for Grupo Vidanta’s first vessel, Vidanta Elegant.

Since acquiring the ship, Grupo Vidanta has been upgrading, reconfiguring and branding it to align with the company’s resort standards.

True partner

‘We are excited to engage a technical manager who understands our needs, behaves as a true partner and operates within the same time zone as our organization,’ said José Alonso, director of operations, Grupo Vidanta.

Besides technical management services, CMI will provide port and fuel management, purchasing and project management services, along with handling all administration for the deck, engine and hotel crew.

‘We are honored to be awarded this contract and it is a privilege to be associated with such a quality organization as Grupo Vidanta,’ said Jim Barreiro de Leon, president & CEO of Miami-based CMI.

Extending the luxury experience to the sea

Grupo Vidanta operates luxury timeshare resorts in Mexico and plans to extend the same level of experience on board Vidanta Elegant.

‘Our partnership is based on similar objectives and principles, making it a natural fit,’ Barreiro de Leon added. ‘We are confident in our ability to deliver tangible benefits to our owners and we are delighted that the Vidanta Elegant and Grupo Vidanta will enhance our reputation managing a very select fleet of vessels.'

CMI currently manages 18 ships in worldwide trade.
