Holland America Line is heading to Cuba

The 1,350-passenger Veendam will operate the Cuba program
The latest major operator to receive approval to visit Cuba, Holland America Line will begin service from Port Everglades in December.

Veendam will offer an extended call at Havana and a visit to Cienfuegos on seven-, 11- and 12-day Caribbean cruises.

The line said heavy demand is expcted when bookings open May 26.

Veendam's first Cuba cruise will be the Dec. 22, 12-day holiday sailing.

Nine seven-day itineraries will feature Havana, and three of these will add another Cuba call at Cienfuegos. Depending on the departure, cruises include a combination of Caribbean destinations such as Amber Cove, Belize City, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Grand Turk, Key West and Montego Bay.

An 11-day spring cruise sails March 17, 2018, and also features Havana and Cienfuegos, as well as Key West, Cozumel, Montego Bay and Georgetown (Grand Cayman). The final seven-day Cuba sailing departs on April 18, 2018.

Fares start at $899 per person, double occupancy. Taxes, fees and port expenses are additional.

Extensive Cuba destination enrichment is planned through the line’s Explorations Central program.

Educational and cultural EXC Tours are being developed in and near Havana and Cienfuegos with a highlight being Trinidad, one of the best-preserved historic towns in the Caribbean.
