Norwegian Getaway diverted course to answer the distress call
Norwegian Getaway diverted course Tuesday evening to rescue two men aboard a distressed sailboat off the coast of Belize.

The Norwegian Cruise Line ship responded to a distress signal from the 42-foot Larwin, which was taking on water.

Norwegian Getaway proceeded at full speed to the boat, 24 nautical miles away, arriving in about one hour. The captain dispatched a tender with seven crew members who, despite challenging weather conditions, were able to safely bring both sailors aboard Norwegian Getaway.

The ship is on a seven-day western Caribbean cruise that left Miami Jan. 28. Norwegian Getaway is in Roatán today and due to call at Cozumel Friday before returning to Miami on Sunday, as scheduled.
