In this context of growth, Pullmantur Cruceros welcomed 34% more guests year-on-year and increased its market share by six points, further strengthening its position in Spain.
Last year, the company allocated three of its fleet of four vessels to the Spanish market during the high season, compared to just two in 2016. It also operated year-round from a Spanish port for the first time, making a total of 161 stopovers, of which around 70% were for boarding and disembarking, increasing its contribution to the local economies.
With regards to destinations, Pullmantur Cruceros has a strong presence in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, as well as in the Norwegian Fjords.
Richard J. Vogel, president and ceo Pullmantur Cruceros said that this environment of growth means ‘we are very satisfied with the magnificent results achieved in 2017 and the strong position we have in Spain, our most important country in terms of passenger numbers.’
Looking ahead to 2018, Vogel remarked: ‘our main goal is to consolidate the volume of guests reached in 2017.’
He called the Spanish cruise market, ‘very positive and shows that we are in a sector with a lot of potential.’
