Seabourn's 2020 Alaska season features new seven-day cruises heading north and south, optional (for charge) Ventures by Seabourn guided kayak, Zodiac and hiking tours and two pre- and post-cruise 'Seabourn Journeys.'

Cruises on Seabourn Sojourn are open for booking, with the first departure set for June 12, 2020, from Vancouver, BC.

'Our range of itineraries from seven- to 14-day cruises are a great option for a busy generation, and through our Ventures by Seabourn, local shore excursion experiences and Seabourn Journeys guided excursions, guests are put right in front of the vast wilderness landscape,' Seabourn president Rick Meadows said.

Seven days north- and southbound

Ten new seven-day cruises complement Seabourn’s lineup of 10-, 11- and 12-day voyages in Alaska and British Columbia. Heading north and south between Vancouver and Juneau, each seven-day cruise can be combined to create a 14-day round-trip including glacier experiences at Hubbard Glacier and Tracy/Endicott Arm with no repeat ports of call either way.

The 10-, 11- and 12-day voyages, meanwhile, sail between Vancouver and Seward or Vancouver and Los Angeles.

Ventures by Seabourn

The Ventures by Seabourn program provides adventurous kayak, Zodiac, catamaran and hiking tours escorted by expert teams of guides including scientists and local guides.

Also part of the Seabourn Conversations program, the expedition team members regularly interact with travelers, sharing their in-depth knowledge about the history, ecology and culture of the region. Their insights are offered in formal presentations on a variety of topics and in more casual conversations over meals or at leisure. In addition, the team chronicles their adventures with stories and photos on Seabourn’s Ventures Tracker.

Examples of 2020 Ventures by Seabourn include Alert Bay, a kayak exploration of Cormorant Marine Park, one of the best places to encounter the prolific wildlife of British Columbia, with double sea-kayaks paddled through forest-sheltered, scenic waters and land alive with seals, whales and eagles.

At the Inian Islands, participants join naturalist guides aboard Zodiacs to explore picturesque, weather-beaten shorelines teeming with steller sea lions, otters and seabirds, as well as whales drawn by rich sea life.

At Tracy Arm/Endicott Arm participants paddle by kayak past icebergs, waterfalls and wildlife amid stunning backdrops of towering mountains en route to North Sawyer or Dawes Glacier.

Mindful living excursions

Sample shore excursions include 'Taku Glacier Lodge, Glacier Seaplane Discovery & Yoga: A Mindful Living Tour,' from Juneau. This is an extension of on-board wellness programming with Dr. Andrew Weil. The tour includes a flight in a classic de Havilland seaplane over five glaciers to Taku Glacier Lodge along the Taku River across from Alaska’s largest and one of the world’s few remaining advancing glaciers. Participants can feast on grilled wild Alaska salmon, join a certified yoga instructor and take a guided interpretive nature walk.

'Burro Creek Retreat & Crab Boil: A Mindful Living Tour,' also an extension of Dr. Andrew Weill programming, unfolds at Burrow Creek Waterfall Lodge, a 120-acre rustic resort set just outside of Skagway along the coastline of Lynn Canal. Participants can take in stunning views, discover how the lodge harnesses energy from the waterfall and have an off-the-grid dining experience led by a dungeness crab and shrimp boil.

Seabourn Journeys

These escorted pre- and/or post-cruise extensions include hotel accommodations at a range of spectacular destinations.

On the 'UNESCO Banff National Park & Rocky Mountaineer,' participants head inland by rail from Calgary for a seven-day pre-cruise journey to experience the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park and Lake Louise, with spectacular scenery and Gold Leaf Service on the Rocky Mountaineer.

'The Denali Experience' is a four- or five-day, pre- or post-cruise trip by road, rail and air to the highest mountain in North America.

Seabourn’s 2020 cruise season in Alaska and British Columbia opens June 12 with 'Glaciers & Alaska Inside Passage' from Vancouver to Juneau, and finishes with an Oct. 2 departure for 'Fjords & America’s Gold Coast' from Vancouver to Los Angeles.
