The fund’s donors will get savings on Silversea voyages as the cruise line will match travelers’ contributions in the form of a future cruise credit.
Galápagos Conservancy partnership
Established in partnership with the US-based Galápagos Conservancy, the Silversea Fund for the Galápagos will educate and support local communities by financing projects related to youth empowerment, education and training, and science, technology and conservation.
The fund welcomes both formal and grassroots project proposals from the Galápagos’ four inhabited islands: San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, Isabela and Floreana.
‘We will use education as a means to sustain the long-term conservation of the environment, leveraging on our strong relationships with the region’s local people,’ said Fernando Delgado, VP and general manager of Silversea Cruises Ecuador.
The Silversea Fund will build on the line’s existing efforts, including its contribution to the Floreana Island Ecological Restoration Project. Passengers traveling aboard Silver Galapagos (and those on Silver Origin from July 2020) can donate during their voyage.
Donations of $500 to $1,000 per suite
For donations of $500 to $1,000 per suite, passengers will receive a future cruise credit in a matching amount that can be applied toward any future Silversea voyage.
Replacing Silver Galapagos, the 100-passenger, all-suite Silver Origin is designed specifically for the destination.
