Valletta Cruise Port on Wednesday welcomed the maiden call of MSC Bellissima with a ceremony held on board in the presence of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Malta cabinet members and other local authorities.

MSC Cruises executive chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, who was on hand, noted his company has enjoyed a long partnership with Malta.

Fourth MSC cruise ship registered in Valletta

‘Last year our cruise ships made 75 calls to Malta, bringing over 300,000 of our passengers to the Maltese shores. MSC Bellissima is our fourth cruise ship to have Valletta as her port of registry,' Vago said.

The maiden call marks the start of a regular cruise schedule in the Mediterranean with visits to Valletta until November. During MSC Bellissima's inaugural season, the ship also will be calling Genoa, Naples, Messina, Barcelona and Marseille.

MSC Bellissima is the 16th ship to join MSC Cruises’ global fleet. It was inaugurated earlier in the month and is the first of two new MSC cruise ships set to come into service in 2019.
