Bondi is an expert in maritime and security issues, and at Alcalde & Fay has been responsible for the cruise beat as outside lobbyist for Cruise Lines International Association.

Earlier, Bondi served as a legislative assistant and professional staff member for US Sen. Bob Graham of Florida from 1998 to 2004. An Orlando native and a graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, she is the granddaughter of the late Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles and the sister-in-law of current Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

'We are delighted to welcome Tandy Bondi to Carnival Corporation,' said her new boss, Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer. 'She is very knowledgeable of the cruise industry and well respected in Washington. We also are pleased that Tom will continue as a consultant with the company.'

Dow called Bondi 'a great lady,' adding: 'She's just right for the job. She really knows the cruise industry. She's well grounded. She has very good judgment.'

Bondi brings vast experience in government relations, especially federal, along with a good grounding in Florida, Dow added.

They've worked closely together over the past decade, and Dow predicted a smooth transition. They're overlapping by a month.

Bondi started Jan. 1, and Dow officially wraps up Feb. 1, though he'll continue working for Carnival Corp. on a consulting basis, reporting to Frizzell.
