Carnival Corp. restructures around six operating units with a new role for Jan Swartz
Ten months in as CEO, Josh Weinstein is restructuring Carnival Corp. & plc to remove layers, doing away with previous groupings such as Holland America Group and Costa Group, to create six operating units.

He's also bringing Jan Swarz, former Holland America Group president, into a new corporate role.
The six operating units include three stand-alone brands and three with a large brand supporting smaller brands. The presidents of the six units will report directly to Weinstein.
Duffy, Ludlow, Eichhorn, Zanetti, Antorcha, Padgett lead the units
Among the six units, Carnival Cruise Line, led by President Christine Duffy, now has Marguerite Fitzgerald, president of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia, reporting to her. At Carnival UK, Paul Ludlow recently took on the presidency, adding to his role of P&O Cruises UK president, and incoming Cunard President Katie McAlister will report to him.
The other units are AIDA Cruises, led by President Felix Eichhorn; Costa Cruises, led by President Mario Zanetti; Holland America Line, led by President Gus Antorcha, with Seabourn President Natalya Leahy reporting to him; and Princess Cruises, led by President John Padgett.
Explaining the new structure in an internal memo, Weinstein said this gives him a direct reporting line for the company's six large brands, putting him much closer to operations.
A Carnival spokesperson said the changes result from Weinstein's 'listening tour around the company and assessing what works well and what could be improved.'
Holland America Group unwound
Weinstein noted that over the past year, Holland America Group has shifted more responsibilities from shared services back to its larger brands, a process that's been completed.
Jan Swartz will oversee Alaska land operations, global ports and destination development, communications and government affairs
Jan Swartz becomes EVP strategic operations
Swartz, who led the group, now becomes EVP strategic operations for Carnival Corp. She'll remain based in California with more time at Carnival headquarters in Miami.
Continuing to oversee Alaska land operations (led by Robert Morgenstern), Swartz takes on oversight of the global ports and destination development functions (led by Renata Ribeiro) and communications (Jody Venturoni). Ribeiro and Venturoni had reported to Weinstein.
She also will oversee government affairs (Tandy Bondi, Marie McKenzie, Vicky Rey), an area that had been under General Counsel Rick Miguez. Joining the corporate government affairs team are Sandy Olsen from Holland America Group and Bernard Vanhuele, director of EU public affairs from Carnival Maritime Group.
As well, Swartz will have a dotted line to Simon Ashwell (Carnival UK), Teresa Lloyd (Carnival Australia) and Tom Strang (corporate maritime affairs).
New reporting for former HA Group shared services
Paul McClelland, Max Duque and Steve Siskie, formerly in Holland America Group shared services, will continue to support Holland America Line, Seabourn, Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises Australia. But they'll have new bosses.
McClelland, VP governance, safety and environmental operations, now answers to Remco Buis, Princess Cruises’ SVP maritime operations. Duque, chief supply chain officer, will report to Jon McKeown, global chief procurement officer, and VP Technology Ciske to CIO Devon Bryan.
Legal
Weinstein also detailed a reorganization of the corporate legal department.
Dan Howard, former general counsel of Holland America Group, is now deputy general counsel under Miguez. Heather Weeter becomes deputy general counsel – litigation & loss prevention, and Doreen Furnari is now company secretary. Arnie Perez, who was company secretary, becomes SVP corporate counsel to assist Miguez.
With these changes and government affairs going to Swartz, Miguez will support Richard Brilliant, chief risk & compliance officer, who had reported to Weinstein. Brilliant will continue reporting to the Carnival Corp. and Carnival plc boards' compliance committees and have dotted line reporting into Miguez.
Global executive leadership team
Carnival Corp.'s global executive leadership now consists of Weinstein's five corporate direct reports — CFO David Bernstein, Chief Maritime Officer Bill Burke, Chief HR Officer Bettina Deynes, Miguez and Swartz, along with the six operating unit presidents — Duffy, Padgett, Antorcha, Ludlow, Zanetti and Eichhorn.
