The first episode of ‘The Tangerine Table’ series shares the stories of women aboard the line’s flagship Celebrity Beyond. These include capt. Kate McCue, described by Celebrity as the first and only American female captain of a cruise ship and the world’s most-followed mariner on social media, and first officer Elizabeth Marami, who according to the line is Kenya's first female marine pilot and first licensed chief officer, navigation.

Mexican-born Atziri Chavez, executive pastry chef, and Serbian-born wine expert Jelena Vukelic can also be seen in the episode.

Inspiring the next generation of mariners

‘Our extraordinary officers and crew are the real stars of Celebrity Cruises and it’s high time we shine a light on them and their life on the high seas,’ said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO, Celebrity Cruises. ‘This is an exciting avenue for them to share their stories and by doing so, inspire both our followers and the next generation of mariners along the way.’

The Tangerine Table

Each of the 10-minute episodes will feature a small group of Celebrity officers or crew sharing their career journeys, including the people and places that have inspired them along the way, and their lives at sea. The name is a nod to the colour of The Magic Carpet on Celebrity’s Edge Series ships.

Episodes will launch throughout the year and available on the line’s YouTube and Facebook pages, with shorter clips aired on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

Upcoming episodes

Two additional episodes launching this month will feature some of the line’s male and female captains, and a group of Celebrity’s women hotel directors.

‘The Captain’s Chair’ will present Celebrity’s captains. Moderated by Lutoff-Perlo, it will include capt. Manolis Alevropoulos, VP marine operations, capt. Dimitris Kafetzis at the helm of Celebrity Beyond, and starting later this year, Celebrity Ascent, Celebrity Summit’s capt Matt Karandreas and Celebrity Edge’s Maria Gotor. The group brings more than 90 years of experience in the industry to the table.

A handful of hotel directors will have their say in ‘The Director’s Chair,’ showing what it takes to manage their careers while serving as an inspiration for women. Celebrity Apex’s Niina Hautaniemi, Celebrity Edge’s Danuta Nosidlak, Celebrity Millennium’s Andrea Muegge and Celebrity Constellation’s Deborah Poortier are among those who will appear.
