At the same time it will provide job-ready professionals for the cruise industry whose workforce was depleted during the COVID-19 pandemic when many moved to other jobs.

‘This traineeship allows our members to grow and redevelop their workforces in the short term while investing in a pipeline of talented bookings, customer service and reservation agents,’ MD Joel Katz said.

‘Our membership body is comprised of over 60 leading cruise lines and thousands of travel agents, so we are excited to connect TAFE NSW students with potential employers and meet the growing demand,’ Katz said.

CLIA Accreditation

In addition to their qualification, trainees will work towards their CLIA Accreditation, with access to the CLIA Learning Academy to supplement their development.

Katz said it was great to see 17-year-old Lindsay Campbell, who has been working as a travel assistant with CLIA’s 2023 Australia’s Home-Based Agent of the Year, Megan Catterall, as the first graduate of the programme.

‘It is great to see young professionals like Lindsay contributing to the industry and achieving great success,’ he said.
