Harmer, managing director, CLIA United Kingdom & Ireland was accorded the OBE for his services to the maritime sector.
The OBE is awarded to individuals having a major local role in any activity, including those whose work has made them known nationally in their chosen area.
Spearheaded efforts for cruising's resumption
'Andy has worked within the travel industry for more than 24 years, including several years as a travel agent. As managing director of CLIA UK & Ireland, Andy most recently spearheaded efforts during the pandemic to bring people together from across the transport, tourism and maritime sectors to support the safe resumption of cruising,' a CLIA spokesperson said.
'I’m thrilled and very grateful to receive this recognition,' Harmer said. 'It has been an incredibly challenging few years for everyone in our sector and the way we have all worked together to overcome such enormous challenges has been inspiring.
