McCormack, who has been with Royal Caribbean since it opened its office in Sydney in December 2008, was head of sales for Royal Caribbean Cruises Australasia when he retired in July 2019.

Brought back

He was brought out of retirement at the end of that year to lead RCI’s trans-Tasman sales team and will stay on to assist Humphreys until the end of May.

Humphreys, who will report to Gavin Smith, VP and MD Australasia, had his own event marketing and strategy consultancy in Western Australia and was most recently deputy GM of Qudos Bank Arena, the indoor entertainment and sporting venue in Sydney Olympic Park.

New heights

‘We’re excited to have Dave at the helm of our sales team at an important time of growth and rejuvenation in the industry,’ Smith said.

‘His passion, energy, commercial acumen and deep knowledge of tourism will no doubt take our travel partner relationships to new heights.’
