Erika Tache, who recently left Carnival Cruise Line after more than two decades in shore excursions, looks back with pride in contributing to numerous initiatives.

Those range from the shift to selling excursions online to cruising's first best price guarantee for tours, building an extensive program of experiences for Carnival Corp. & plc's Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and developing tours that 'give back.'

'Instrumental role'

'Erika played an instrumental role in the development of the successful Carnival Adventures team, and we wish her well in her own next adventure, as we welcome back Priscilla Molina as director, operations and revenue,' Carnival said in a statement to Seatrade Cruise News.

Tache started at sea with Carnival in 2001 and came shoreside in 2005 as manager, product development, shore excursions. She was promoted to director, product development in 2009, then senior director five years later. In 2019, she became senior director, operations and revenue.

FCCA speaker

Beyond Carnival, Tache is highly regarded in the industry and frequently appeared as a speaker at Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association conferences. She most recently moderated 'The New Reality of Shore Excursion Operations: Challenges and Opportunities' workshop at the FCCA's Santo Domingo summit.

'Over the 22-plus years, I’ve had the privilege to contribute to many company milestones, from the first tour sold on the Internet decades ago — yes, I remember the time we did not sell tours on the Internet! — to the introduction of the Shore Excursion Best Price Guarantee, the first program of its kind in the cruise industry,' Tache said.

Amber Cove product building

She's gratified for opportunities to contribute both at the Carnival brand and Carnival Corp. At Amber Cove, her team worked closely with the local community and tour operators to 'build, from the ground up, one of the most comprehensive shore excursions programs available in the Caribbean, showcasing the beauty of the Puerto Plata region, its people, history and culture.'

Tache is happy for developing experiences that 'allow guests to explore and do what they love, while they discover the best of what the destination has to offer. As an avid traveler and life-long learner, I have greatly enjoyed immersing myself in every destination to see how I can best bring it to life,' she said.

Strong partnerships

'Equally important to providing a memorable guest experience has been my commitment to establishing strong business partnerships at the ports we visit and making a positive impact in the destinations,' Tache added. With this in mind, she developed many tours including family-friendly services and excursions, exclusive offerings, sustainable tours and immersive cultural and culinary experiences that 'helped Carnival and our partners prosper.'

Proudest of 'Give Back with Purpose'

She's proudest, though, of the line's 'Give Back with Purpose' charitable, community-oriented experiences.

'The tours provide an opportunity for guests to connect with the places they visit, the people and their culture and make a positive impact to the community they visit,' Tache said.

Her current plan? To 'spend some quality time with the family before I decide on my next great adventure.'
