Explora Journeys hires new Australasia and APAC team

Nicole Costantin, head of sales Australasia and APAC for Explora Journeys, the luxury cruise line created by MSC Group, announced key appointments for the fledgling company.

Gillian Seller, the former director of sales Australia and New Zealand for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, has taken on the role of sales manager and will report to Costantin.

Also joining as another sales manager on January 3 is James McCullagh, formerly of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Asia Pacific appointment

Lauren Bevan, who has worked for Uniworld Boutique Cruise Collection and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, becomes Explora Journeys’ first Asia Pacific appointment on January 9 as sales coordinator, and Matt Backo, formerly Norwegian Cruise Line and Aurora Expeditions, has joined the customer experiences team.

Costantin said Explora will further grow its local staff over the next few months and thanked the industry for its ‘truly overwhelming’ response to the start-up operation.

In 2008 the late legendary Rama Rebbapragada presented her with an award from Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd ‘in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the cruising industry.’

In 2010 she won the Neil Frazer Award for ‘outstanding contribution to the cruise industry,’ elevating her to CLIA Australasia’s hall of fame.

She has been the Australasia correspondent for Seatrade Cruise Review since 1997 and for Seatrade Insider (now Seatrade Cruise News) since its launch in 2000.
