Passengers aboard Mortimer’s namesake ship will ring in the New Year with the pioneering adventurer during the 23-day ‘Antarctica Complete’ voyage departing Ushuaia on December 27.

Mortimer will also be the special guest on board the 24-day ‘Arctic Complete’ voyage in July next year, travelling from Reykjavik to Longyearbyen, which will take in the world’s largest fjord system in East Greenland.

Never the same

‘People keep asking me why I want to keep doing these trips time and time again,’ Mortimer said.

‘It’s simple — it is never the same.

‘From the chemistry of the people you travel with to the impact of the weather and the ice, and those things that come along that nature just throws at you.

‘The chance encounters you can have on an expedition are wondrous.’

Key component

Other special guests aboard the company’s two purpose-built ships, Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle, include Gina Chick, a ‘rewilding’ adventurer who spent 67 days solo in the Tasmanian wilderness in the middle of winter with only 10 basic survival items and camera equipment to film her experiences.

Further special guests in the lineup are Saunders Carmichael-Brown, who was on board the 2022 Endurance Antarctic Expedition that found Sir Ernest Shackleton’s shipwreck and professional underwater, wildlife and expedition photographers Jett and Kathryn Britnell.
