A 30-year veteran of the port, she has served as interim port director since January, following Juan Kuryla's departure, and before that was deputy port director since Febuary 2018. Earlier roles included assistant port director of business development and marketing, manager of business development and manager of cruise development, among others. She started her PortMiami career as conference coordinator in 1992.

Standing ovation

Webb got a standing ovation when Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced the news at today's groundbreaking for MSC Cruises' mega terminal.

'Hydi Webb is beyond qualified to take over operation of PortMiami and shepherd it into a new era of success,' Levine Cava said. 'Her expertise, professionalism and leadership will ensure the port remains a top economic driver for Miami-Dade County, creating new jobs, opening trade networks and maintaining top safety standards for our community. We are proud to have her take the reins of such an important institution in South Florida.'

After the county conducted a national search and spoke to candidates from around the country, it was determined that Webb was the most qualified individual to lead PortMiami.

Experience in cruise and cargo management

Levine Cava noted Webb has decades of experience in cruise and cargo management and has negotiated long-term investment, developed marketing and strategic plans, created international connections and delivered excellent service to PortMiami and the county, at large.
